Pre-School

EYFS: Pre-School | Sgring 2015 Curriculum

This term we will be focusing on Nursery Rhymes and animals. Children will be learning new rhymes including Humpty Dumpty, I’m a little tea pot and Wheels on the Bus and many others. Please share your favorite rhyme from home with us to enjoy.

We will be sharing the book ‘Dear Zoo’ and exploring all the different types of animals. We will be learning their names and the different sounds they make. Children will have the opportunity to care and look after animals in our role play vets area and paint their favorite animal from the story. Please bring in photos of any family pets to discuss a circle time.

Later this term we will be celebrating

Easter and Spring.

Nursery

Nursery – Spring 2015 Curriculum

At the beginning of this term we will be looking at important buildings in Great Britain and what foods we like to eat in Modern Britain. After talking about palaces and castles we will be reading Cinderella and having fun acting out the story.

Later in the term we will be looking at zoos and investigating wild and domestic animals and where they live.

Communication and Language / Literacy

We will enjoy joining in with Nursery rhymes and songs. We will be reading lots of animal stories and
writing facts about different animals.Children will begin to recognise the initial sounds in words and how to write them.

Later this term we will be celebrating

Easter and Spring.

Year 4 visit As part of our topic about the water, we will be traveling to Birmingham to visit the
Sea Life Centre. There will be a letter to follow.

Pupils will be given Math’s and Literacy homework on a Friday. Homework is to be returned by the following Thursday please. Name in the box rewards for pupils who return homework. Please hear your child read at home each week too and help them practice their weekly spellings which they will be given on a Monday.

PE Kit on Monday and Thursday – Plain T-shirt and Short, Trainers or pumps suitable for outdoors.

Year 5

Year 6

Year 6 is split into two classes: 6L (Mr Lyons’ Class) and 60 (Miss O’Flaherty’s Class). We often work in smaller groups too, when Miss Cox teaches alongside Mr Lyons and Miss O’Flaherty.

We are supported throughout the week by different support staff, including Mrs Mann 6: Mr Dyer.

We will focus a lot on English and Maths skills this term, even in other subjects, but we will still be covering a lot of knowledge, skills and understanding across the whole curriculum:
